Howth: Located approx 9 miles NE of Dublin on the R105 road.
It is a popular seaside resort for Dubliners and a busy fishing location, from Howth head you can see wonderful views of the Wicklow mountains and there can be boat trips available from the harbour (check locally). You can also take a boat trip to 'Ireland's Eye' which is a small island of bird sanctuary and is a popular place for walkers and having picnics.

Portmarnock: Located approx 8 miles NE of Dublin on the R106 road.
A popular little seaside resort, there is a beach of 3 miles long with sand so soft it has often been named 'Velvet Strand' The town of Portmarnock is also well known to golfers for the championship golf course located here.

Malahide: Located approx 9 miles NE of Dublin on the R107 road.
Another popular seaside town Malahide is probably more known for the splendid 'Malahide castle' which is surrounded by 250 acres of wonderful gardens and parkland, there is also a model railway museum which is definatly well worth a visit

There are of course many other places throught the Dublin county area for you to discover, and with a rental car you can surely do that, be it North, South, East or West of Dublin it really does not matter because where ever you choose to go, a sight worth seeing will surely be there for you.
