Dublin: Well what can we say about it? well firstly it is the capital of Ireland and largest city and it certainly does have some noteworthy sights. The city itself is not as large as you might think in comparison to many other captial cities around the world, however it does has a uniqueness about it. The city itself has many sights to see, sights such as the 'Grand canal' is well worth a walk down during a nice summer day, O'Connell bridge is a good place to start exploring the city from and it provides a lovely view of the river and some of Dublin's most famous buildings. A good place to visit would be the 'Bank of Ireland' building where guided tours are usually available during business hours and is a good way to certainly spend a few hours. the famed 'Trinity College' is also worth a wander round during the day and a certain must see has to be 'St Stephen's Green' and a great pllace for a picnic! Other places to have a quick wander must surely include the 'Halfpenny bridge', 'Dublin castle' and of course both the National history museum and National gallery and if you have time Temple Bar too.Remember to visit Phoenix park which is one of Europe's largest city parks and also take time to discover Dublin zoo.

Places of interest in or around Dublin.

Howth: Located approx 9 miles NE of Dublin on the R105 road.
It is a popular seaside resort for Dubliners and a busy fishing location, from Howth head you can see wonderful views of the Wicklow mountains and there can be boat trips available from the harbour (check locally). You can also take a boat trip to 'Ireland's Eye' which is a small island of bird sanctuary and is a popular place for walkers and having picnics.

Portmarnock: Located approx 8 miles NE of Dublin on the R106 road.
A popular little seaside resort, there is a beach of 3 miles long with sand so soft it has often been named 'Velvet Strand' The town of Portmarnock is also well known to golfers for the championship golf course located here.

Malahide: Located approx 9 miles NE of Dublin on the R107 road.
Another popular seaside town Malahide is probably more known for the splendid 'Malahide castle' which is surrounded by 250 acres of wonderful gardens and parkland, there is also a model railway museum which is definatly well worth a visit
